Creating a Hyperlink

Hyperlinks are the glue that holds a site together. It directs visitors to other pages of your site, view and download documentation, and also points them in the direction of additional off-site resources.

Creating a Hyperlink

Using the editor in Auctori for content pages, articles, bios, and additional modules, first start by highlighting the text the link is to be created for. Click the hyperlinking icon to the right in the bottom row of the editor controls. Copy and paste or enter the destination URL into the URL field. If you are linking an email address, select the mailto: option from the type drop down. If the link is leading a visitor away from your site, select the Target to New Window. Once the appropriate information has been filled in, click Save to create the link.

Linking to Documents

Many times, businesses will have documents to share with their visitors such as spreadsheets and PDF files. To link to a document, highlight the text that is to become the link. Instead of entering a URL, click the Browse button to the right of the URL field. Near the bottom of the window, click the Upload button. Browse for the file on your computer, then click Open to upload it into Auctori.

You can also create a folder to help organize your documents in the back end of Auctori. To do so, click the first of the three icons located at the top of the window. Specify the folder name, then click OK. To create sub folders within the new folder, find the new folder on the left side of the window by scrolling down and double clicking on the folder. Then you can repeat the create folder process creating a tree of folders to help organize where each document uploaded rests.

If the file uploads successfully, you will receive a pop up saying so. After you have successfully uploaded your document, click OK in that window, and you will see a pathway located in the URL field above the Upload button. After you have successfully uploaded your document, click OK in that window, and you will see a pathway located in the URL field above the Upload button. Click OK, and that same pathway will automatically paste in the original URL field. For documents, it is recommended to have them open in a new window, so set the Target to New Window.
